I am an Educational Psychologist situated in Cape Town and is professionally trained and registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Education FET phase (English, Mathematics and Psychology) from the University of Johannesburg. Thereafter I completed my postgraduate Honours degree in Educational Psychology in 2014. I completed my Masters degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Johannesburg in 2017.
My clinical internship experience includes working at a school for learners with special needs, which has helped me gain extensive experience in working with learners with special needs from diverse backgrounds.
During my experience within the special needs school environment I was part of a small multidisciplinary team, where I was responsible for learning support, admission and progress assessments, therapeutic interventions as well as teacher and parent development and training.
Furthermore, as part of my clinical internship experience I worked as the sole psychologist at a High School and was part of a team of psychologists in private practice in Johannesburg. This is where my passion for working with adolescents started.
I specialise in working with children, adolescents and young adults and prefer to use an integrative holistic approach. This means that I do not subscribe to a singular school of thought, but rather make use of a combination of different approaches to encourage a good fit between my client's needs and the therapy process. I believe that each client is unique, and my approach is therefore tailored accordingly to serve each client’s distinctive needs.
I work alongside individuals and their families to achieve their goals. I acknowledge the importance of working with all role players in an individual's environment such as parents, family and the academic or workplace context.
I consult in both English and Afrikaans and consult with a wide variety of individuals from all cultural background.
